Early Winter Trail Maintenance
Early Winter Washouts
Below you will find some tips on filling in those early season washouts that will try to eat your precious snow and a groomer track if you don't get it taken care of.
First thing to do is take some of the fir and pine boughs that where taken off the trees when pruning back the trails using these as a base to keep the snow up out of the washout.

Next after lining the bottom of the washout with a generous layer of boughs you are ready to cover it over with some snow off the side of the trail. Packing the snow down the best you can as you go along. The boughs serve the purpose of keeping the snow from setting right in the water which causes it to continue to melt.

This can be a small time commitment but by taking this step at the beginning of the season it can decrease the amount of time you have to wait before getting the bigger groomers out onto the trails due to passablility in areas.

After all this is done you are on your way to having a stabile base to build on for the winter.
